Sunshine Coast
            Riding Develops Abilities
The Trail of Painted Ponies began in New Mexico as a Fundraiser and Tourist attraction.  Life size ponies were cast from polyurethene and then were transformed by many artists. The results were magnificent. The artists incorporated themes of memorium, mythical images, the ancestral horse, futuristic, and all facets of life. These magnificent horses are placed in many locations throughout New Mexico.
Today smaller versions of the original life size ponies are produced and have become much sought after collector pieces of fine art.

At The Sunshine Coast Mane Event we are making our own Trail of Painted Wooden Ponies with the help of school children from all over the Sunshine Coast.

Our wonderful volunteers are busy cutting out the templates and preparing them ready for our local children to design and craft into their own masterpieces. These will be available in the Childrens Activity Section at the Event.

Not only will they make crafty creations, but they will also be writing stories about their ponies as part of their class work throughout the year.

The Trails of Painted Wooden Ponies  and their stories will be on display in The Big Shed Clubhouse throughout The Sunshine Coast Mane Event, and if we can make enough wooden ponies to go around, there will be opportunities to paint your own wooden pony when you visit.
